Ever felt like you are headed in the wrong direction in life? Like you are swimming against the current? Going against the grain? I love this place because it makes me feel like that every time I visit. This is Shinagawa station, one of the biggest in Tokyo and a big business area. I have never seen so many black suits in my life. It’s both pleasure and pain going there at rush hour. I hate cramming myself onto the train, but sitting at the coffee shop overlooking the station, you really do watch the world go by. I sit and wonder where all these people are going, where have they come from and why don’t they mix it up a bit every now again, go crazy and wear a suit that is not black? This stream of people goes on forever, pouring out of the station and into the streets. For some reason I find this place strangely relaxing and very humbling. I like being just one of the faces in the crowd.
